Grace Presbyterian Church is a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA), and as such, our worship service is rooted in the Protestant Reformation, and its call to be "Reformed, and always reforming".
The PC(USA) allows for much variety in worship, and encourages congregations to adapt their worship to the place, time, and people gathered.
Our worship service is traditional, but not stuffy! You will have a printed bulletin to follow
We sing together, hymns, from our red "Glory to God" hymnals, and you will hear music for our edification and contemplation throughout the service, from our music director. (If you would like to hear what our music is like, our worship video includes our music: https://www.facebook.com/gracepclr/videos/645326987169472/ )
We read liturgy and prayers together, beginning with passing of the peace (you are not obligated to shake hands, we typically stay in our seats), announcements--which are both printed and read aloud--a call to worship, wherein a worship leader takes one part and the congregation reads together the other, and a prayer of confession--read together--with a brief sung response.
Of primary importance, and the only thing truly required of Presbyterian worship, is scripture and the proclamation of scripture. In our congregation, a worship leader reads a prayer for illumination and the first scripture reading. The pastor reads the second scripture reading and then preaches on themes of the passage.
In response to scripture we affirm our faith, using selections from our Book of Confessions (linked here: https://www.pcusa.org/site_media/media/uploads/oga/pdf/boc2016.pdf ) and we collect an offering by passing plates. If you do not want to give financially at this time, we welcome your gifts via mailed check to 9301 N. Rodney Parham Rd, Little Rock, AR 72227. We are led in prayer by the pastor, concluding with the Lord's prayer. We close our worship with a charge to discipleship and a benediction.
You will not be asked to stand up and introduce yourself, you will not be singled out in any way during the service, and our desire is for you to have a worshipful experience with us! If you have more questions about worship, please contact us at gracepresby@sbcglobal.net or 501-225-3274
